Fake tans are self-oppression. My sister used to put on an all over body fake tan ever day.
There is this idea floating around that white skin is unhealthy and tanned skin is healthy,and it's a very recent idea.
I knew a woman who tanned herself really dark all through her teen years and by late 20s she had advanced melanoma and had to have major surgery removing lymph nodes near her breasts.
Another person I knew, who was out in the sun working construction, had pre-maligant melanoma in his mid twenties, in Oregon, and he thought that having Indian blood meant he was exempt. Nope, he was mostly Irish.
